BTL Emsella is an innovative development in the field of pelvic health, changing women’s and men’s lives across the world. Using High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic, (HIFEM) technology, BTL Emsella is one of the easiest, most relaxing, and non-invasive treatments available to help reduce urinary leakage and dribbles, and free women and men from incontinence and erectile dysfunction.

By the time you come in for a BTL Emsella treatment, you will likely have weak or atrophied muscle support around your pelvic floor. This is what causes many women and men to suffer embarrassing urinary incontinence or decreased sexual satisfaction. Strengthening these muscles, and helping them to become tighter will go a long way in improving the patients’ quality of life.

With BTL Emsella you don’t have to think about whether you are doing it right. Under the direction of your specialist clinic, you need only sit comfortably and wait out the treatment. There is no discomfort and rather than have to work on it every day, or twice a day, you will only need twice-weekly appointments.

WHAT IS INCONTINENCE?

The most common type of incontinence is stress incontinence, which happens when the pelvic floor muscles become weaker. Usually the pelvic floor muscles wrap tightly around the urethra, holding everything together, after childbirth and the menopause, the muscles can become weaker causing incontinence. This means that the muscles don’t wrap so tightly around the urethra and bladder, and can relax at some inconvenient times, leading to embarrassing leaks! Prostate surgery can also result in incontinence in men so here at Estrada Clinic, we help people from all walks of life and having gone through all sorts of trauma with the powerful Emsella Chair treatment.

HOW CAN YOU TREAT
STRESS INCONTINENCE?

common treatment for stress incontinence is Kegel exercises which gradually strengthen the pelvic floor muscles by regularly tensing and relaxing them. These can be effective, but are time-consuming and difficult, with slow progress, and for women with particularly weak pelvic floor muscles, are often not possible.

Traditionally, Kegel exercises have been recommended as the most effective non-invasive means of improving pelvic floor muscle strength. Unfortunately, it is difficult for many to identify the correct muscles to work on and maintain the necessary focus. Consequently, the success rate with these exercises can vary anywhere between 30-90%. For those with more severe forms of incontinence, Kegels are not helpful.

Certain risks can occur when Kegels are done incorrectly. From further weakening the pelvic floor muscles to tightening so much as to make intercourse painful, there are many ways this approach can go wrong for a patient.

Treating Stress Incontinence With BTL Emsella

BTL Emsella uses its HIFEM technology to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles without you having to tense consciously. The electromagnetic currents help to trigger muscular contractions, which ‘works out’ the muscles in the same way Kegels would! Using High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology, BTL Emsella stimulates the pelvic floor muscles. This is done much the same way Kegel exercises work, only at a greater intensity, speed and without conscious effort. This technology generates electromagnetic currents which create a magnetic field around the pelvic floor. This field then triggers the contractions that give the muscles an intense workout. Your muscles become stronger and tighter with each session. With BTL Emsella, the muscles are targeted without you having to think about it, meaning it can actually tense your muscles far more than you could on your own. This is called the supramaximal level of contraction, and means the BTL Emsella can deliver the equivalent of over 11,000 Kegel exercises in one treatment. The treatment also triggers the production of new muscle fibres and proteins, to make the muscles stronger and tighter and improve the link between your pelvic floor muscles and the brain, helping you prevent leaks in the future.

he BTL Emsella is FDA approved, and gives women and men a non-surgical, unintrusive and comfortable alternative to many other treatments for incontinence. There isn’t any recovery or downtime after a BTL Emsella treatment, and unlike a lot of other similar treatments, it can be carried out without you even having to get undressed! The treatments take just under half an hour per session, and you can feel the results within two to three sessions.

During the Treatment

During your session, all you have to do is take a seat comfortably on the Emsella chair. It is in a private section of the clinic so you can have privacy as you go through the treatment. There isn’t any need to undress or change into a gown, so you can stay in your clothing and remain seated for a 28-minute session. You may experience some tingling but there is no pain or other discomforts. You can bring a book or something to listen to that will keep you occupied for that duration. We do ask that you wear loose clothing such as loose light trousers or skirt so there are no restrictions on your body by clothing whilst the electromagnetic technology performs contractions on you, so please try not to wear jeans or tight trousers. We will discuss issues such as pads in your consultation.

During each session, you will have experienced the equivalent of over 11,000 Kegels. This procedure helps to not only strengthen existing muscles but also build new muscle fibres and stimulate proteins. This also helps to enhance the neuromuscular control of the bladder.

The treatment course we offer is TEN sessions, conducted over the course of FOUR weeks. You should be able to experience some improvement right from your first or second session with the most noticeable difference by the sixth session. Everybody is different and unique so we work with you to achieve the best results possible.

How fast will I see results?

The results of BTL Emsella treatment can be seen as soon as after the first treatment in some women. However, we recommend a minimum course length of ten weekly treatments (preferably two sessions per week) to see optimum results from the treatment, and most people see and feel some results after two or three treatment sessions.

What does the procedure feel like? Is it painful?

The procedure is not at all painful, and many people bring along friends or family to chat to during treatment. You may also want to bring a book or magazine to read while on the Emsella chair or we can always have a good conversation or two!

Some women feel the tensing and relaxing of the pelvic floor muscles during treatment, but this has been described as a very similar sensation to regular kegel exercises, and isn’t uncomfortable.

How long is the treatment? How many sessions do I need?

A single BTL Emsella treatment takes less than half an hour – 28 minutes to be precise!

While some women will feel results after the first treatment, a minimum of 8-10 weekly or bi-weekly sessions is appropriate to feel the optimum results of BTL Emsella. We’ll tailor your treatment plan to you and your body to create the most effective results but we offer more treatment sessions than any other clinic for your money. This is because, being the longest standing Emsella clinic in the Northwest, we have over five years experience of women and men’s incontinence issues and know that six treatment sessions is not enough for the majority of people. Please keep this in mind when looking for the best clinic for you.

Who is the right candidate for BTL EMSELLA?

If you are struggling with stress incontinence, BTL Emsella might be the perfect treatment for you.

BTL Emsella can improve the symptoms of stress incontinence caused by menopause or childbirth, as well as other intimate health conditions, including vaginal laxity and difficulty reaching orgasm.

However, if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, have metal plates in your body, such as hip replacements or if you have a copper coil or IUD, then BTL Emsella is not suitable for you, and we can help give you the information you need to choose a different treatment in these cases. You should also remove any intimate piercings before treatment with BTL Emsella, and you cannot use Emsella when on your period as the treatment increases blood flow to the area!

BTL Emsella for Improving Orgasms

Your best kept secret!

As we age and the menopause hits, for many women, their sex life can take a dive, or go through some form of change. This is due to significant fluctuations in both estrogen and testosterone levels that happen during the onset of the menopause, which affects both your sex drive and desire to actually have sex, as well as the internal workings of your body, including vaginal tightness, vaginal lubrication and blood flow to the clitoris and vagina.

All these changes are perfectly natural and happen to many women as part of the menopause. The menopause affects every woman differently, so you may find your attitude towards sex and sexual pleasure changing in a variety of different ways.

Almost a quarter of menopausal and post-menopausal women said they don’t find sex pleasurable, and more than half of these women say they were concerned about this fact. Not only does sex itself often become difficult, but a loss of tissue elasticity, muscle tone and blood flow to the area can lead to a decrease or loss in sensation of the clitoris and vagina, making sexual pleasure and reaching orgasm increasingly difficult.

How Does BTL Emsella Help Improve Orgasms?

For a long time, there weren’t any options to treat the root cause of these issues, but now there is BTL Emsella, the revolutionary treatment to help improve your sex life and give you stronger, more frequent orgasms.

The BTL Emsella works to treat the entire pelvic area by using HIFEM (High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) currents , to target the pelvic floor muscles and muscles in the vagina and vaginal canal. This causes the muscles in the area to contract and relax, giving them a real workout. The treatment also triggers the production of new fibroblasts and collagen in the area, helping to make the tissues of the vagina, labia and clitoris more sensitive, and heightening sexual sensation.

This process helps to create a tighter vaginal canal, and improves sensation of the vaginal tissues, including the clitoris and vaginal opening, to increase the sexual pleasure you feel, give your sex drive a boost and make it easier to reach orgasm. It also improves the strength and ease of orgasm, to help make sex more pleasurable and give you back confidence and happiness in your sexuality.

BTL Emsella For Vaginal Rejuvenation

A new confident you

BTL Emsella is a revolutionary treatment that can treat incontinence by strengthening and tightening the pelvic floor muscles. However, it can also be used for vaginal rejuvenation, to help improve the tightness and sensation of the vagina and give you back confidence in your sex life.

As we age, the muscles in our pelvic floor often naturally become weaker. This can be due to the strain of a vaginal birth or the drop in estrogen and collagen production as we hit the menopause. This can lead to leaks, dribbles and other symptoms of stress incontinence, but also the increase of vaginal laxity and a loss of elasticity in the vagina.

BTL Emsella treatment is a new, revolutionary treatment designed to help improve the strength of the pelvic floor muscles and rejuvenate the vagina, whilst reducing the symptoms related to vaginal laxity.

What Is Vaginal Laxity?

While a very common condition, vaginal laxity is often not talked about by women, even though it can have such a huge impact on our lives and relationships.

Vaginal laxity is a condition that falls under the wider umbrella of genitourinary symptoms of menopause (GSM), and is caused by a lack of collagen and a loss of muscle strength in the vaginal tissues and muscles. It can trigger a variety of intimate health issues for women, and make sex and sexual relationships less enjoyable.

Vaginal laxity leads to less sensation during sex for both men and women, meaning sex can become less exciting and pleasurable, lowering your sex drive. It can also make it more difficult to reach orgasm for many women. Vaginal dryness is also common when suffering from vaginal laxity, which can cause painful or difficult sex due to the lack of lubrication. The vagina walls can even chafe, causing discomfort.

Even as we age, sex is so important to help maintain closeness and intimacy in our relationships, and difficulty having sex can create a rift between partners, giving your confidence a knock and making you feel older than you are.

Many of the treatments traditionally available such as surgical vaginoplasty, carry high risks,  are very invasive and have long, intensive recovery periods. This means that many women suffering from vaginal laxity have had to sit and suffer in silence in the past. Nowadays, treatments like BTL Emsella are available to help improve your pelvic health and give your sex life and self-confidence a real boost!

What Causes Vaginal Laxity?

Vaginal Laxity can be caused by a variety of factors, but the most common are the impact of the menopause and lasting effects from vaginal childbirth.

The majority of women experience the start of the menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, where there are considerable changes in women’s natural hormone levels. The sharp drop in estrogen production causes many changes in women’s bodies, including a drop in the levels of collagen that the body produces. This is particularly important when it comes to women’s health during the menopause. Collagen production begins to slow from the mid 20’s, contributing to the visible signs of ageing in the body and skin and the drop in estrogen further lowers collagen production in the body.

This drop in collagen levels can cause a loss in skin elasticity, causing fine lines and wrinkles, as well as a loss of muscle tone. This is where vaginal laxity comes in – this combination of changes in the body leads to a variety of genitourinary symptoms of menopause, or GSM, including vaginal laxity and conditions associated with it.

Vaginal laxity occurs when the tissues in the vaginal canal and the pelvic floor muscles become weakened, either due to collagen loss or a loss of muscle tone, leading to a variety of issues. These can include a higher likelihood of stress incontinence, looseness and lack of sensation in the vagina during sex. This can make having sex more difficult due to vaginal dryness and pain.

Vaginal laxity can also be caused by childbirth, with the vagina and vaginal canal undergoing immense strain during vaginal birth. For women who have had long or complicated births, larger babies or multiple vaginal deliveries, the likelihood of vaginal laxity becomes higher. While the vagina is a muscle designed to relax and contract, if damage occurs to the muscles during birth, it may not be able to contract as well as before having children, leading to vaginal laxity.

These issues affect many women throughout their lives, yet they are not spoken about as often as they should be. However, here at Estrada Clinic, we are passionate about using BTL Emsella to help give women back control of their lives and sexuality, and to free them from the symptoms of vaginal laxity.

How Does BTL Emsella Treat Vaginal Laxity?

BTL Emsella is a revolutionary treatment designed to directly target the muscles in and around the vagina, as well as to trigger natural collagen regeneration  in the area. It does this using HIFEM technology, which is completely non-surgical and non-invasive.

BTL Emsella works by using High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic technology (also known as HIFEM) to directly target the muscles in the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor muscles are relaxed and contracted involuntarily by the HIFEM waves, working them out like you would any other muscle. In this way, it also connects with the muscles of the vaginal canal and vaginal opening, to help strengthen and tighten them, creating a more secure pelvic floor, and a tighter vaginal canal. This increases sexual pleasure for both partners by creating more physical sensation and rejuvenating the vagina.

BTL Emsella has helped many women take back control of their sexuality, in a treatment that is completely painless and takes less than half an hour per session! The BTL Emsella treatment is carried out fully clothed and is a 100% non-invasive, non-surgical procedure. There is no downtime after treatment, so you can even have Emsella treatment on your lunch break!

What Are The Results of BTL Emsella for Vaginal Laxity

BTL Emsella treatment can give results you can really feel, sometimes after your first treatment. However, for lasting and significant results, we provide a course of ten sessions over a period of four weeks, depending on your age and issues. The course will be tailored to your individual needs after your consultation and as the course progresses. Results are different for each person, depending on the reason for your issues. There is also an intensive course, combining programme 1 and 2 for all-round amazing strength and restoration of the pelvic floor muscles!

After a treatment course of BTL Emsella, our clients report a feeling of tightness and rejuvenation in the vaginal canal and the surrounding area, making sex easier and more pleasurable. By tightening the vagina, BTL Emsella can also help to reduce other symptoms of GSM, such as dryness and vaginal discomfort, painful sex, and difficulty becoming aroused or reaching orgasm. This helps to improve the sex lives of many of our clients, and give them a real confidence boost when it comes to intimate relationships.

Women who suffer from a weak pelvic floor also report feeling more in control of their bladder after treatment with BTL Emsella.

The results of BTL Emsella treatment can last for years, and if you need top-up treatments we can carry these out at Estrada Clinic too! Regular kegel exercise sessions will help keep your pelvic muscles strong and should be carried out everyday during and after your course of treatment.

What Is The Treatment Process Like?

We always carry out a full consultation with every single one of our clients before performing any BTL Emsella treatment. In your consultation, we will discuss your symptoms and medical history, as well as why BTL Emsella might be right for you. We’ll also go through an important health checklist to make sure the treatment is safe and will really benefit your overall health and wellbeing. We can carry out these initial consultations in-person or over the phone to help make things easier for you. At Estrada Clinic, we’re passionate about BTL Emsella, and believe it can change the lives of so many women, however, we also care deeply about our patients and know that your safety and comfort is paramount, which is why we’ll never recommend Emsella treatment to anyone who isn’t suitable.

On the day of your treatment, you will be greeted by Anneliese Estrada at our lovely Alderley Edge Cheshire Clinic, situated within the Alderley Edge Medical Centre on the second floor within Runway reformer pilates studio. When it comes to your treatment, we always carry out the BTL Emsella treatment in a secluded and separate area of the clinic to protect your privacy and improve your comfort. We also offer space for friends and family to sit with you during treatment to support you. Many of our clients pass the time during their treatment by reading a book or magazine, or talking with friends and family, as we don’t allow phones, laptops or tablets within 8-10 feet of the Emsella chair – unfortunately the electromagnetic technology in BTL Emsella can affect them so they will have to be left in bags or coats on the pegs provided. Each treatment session is only 28 minutes long, so you don’t need to take much time out of your busy schedule, and it can even be carried out in your lunch break!

When you start a course of BTL Emsella treatment, you will be given ten sessions to ensure you get the full effects and benefits Emsella can offer, and that the results last over time. However, many of our patients actually start to feel results within two to three sessions, and for some patients they may even feel results after the first session! We recommend that you carry out your full course of sessions over four weeks to see the best results. We can also offer top-up sessions if they are required (this is sometimes needed around 2-3 years after your regular treatment course to maintain optimum results), or you can have maintenance sessions each month or two-monthly to keep the muscles of the pelvic floor strong, just as you would do attending the gym. We now have the brilliant most advanced pelvic floor gym – the Emsella Chair, which is also a great preventative treatment to use prior to starting a family to prevent excess trauma to the pelvic floor muscles after childbirth, and for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles prior to the onset of the menopause. Preventative treatment is key to health and longevity, and living a comfortable quality of life.

Incontinence After Menopause

What Are The Effects of the Menopause?

The effects of menopause on the genitourinary system (the system that includes the bladder and urethra) can be far reaching and have a big impact on the lives of menopausal and post-menopausal women.

During the menopause, there is a drop in estrogen, which affects many areas of the body including your skin and hair, the metabolic system (which causes that pesky weight gain), and the genitourinary system. It also slows down the rate of collagen production in the entire body, including the vaginal canal, which is one of the most common contributors to incontinence in menopausal and post-menopausal women. This leads to a thinning of vaginal tissue and slower tissue regeneration, causing even more issues for women, such as vaginal dryness and increased looseness in the area, known as vaginal laxity.

When a variety of symptoms in the genital and urinary systems begin to appear – including symptoms like pain during sex, vaginal dryness, an increased susceptibility to UTI’s and stress incontinence – it is known as Genitourinary Symptoms of Menopause, or GSM. GSM affects around half of menopausal and postmenopausal women, and, unfortunately, only gets worse over time, meaning it won’t resolve without treatment.

It is primarily this weakening in the vagina and in the pelvic floor muscles (the muscles that support the pelvic floor, including the bladder and urethra) that leads to the higher likelihood of stress incontinence after menopause, which is also a common symptom of GSM.

What is Menopausal Stress Incontinence?

Stress incontinence is incontinence that occurs when stress is put on the abdomen and muscles around the abdomen and pelvic floor, like when you cough, sneeze, laugh or lift heavy objects. It happens when your muscles around the bladder and urethra aren’t strong enough to support them. The weakening of the pelvic floor and general vaginal laxity, which are usually brought on by the menopause, often causes this lack of support.

Estimates from the National Association for Continence show that over 200 million people worldwide are affected by some form of incontinence, which is where BTL Emsella treatment comes in! Using electromagnetic technology to target the pelvic floor, BTL Emsella helps reduce the symptoms of incontinence without having to do lots of time-consuming muscle exercises like Kegels, which some women with very weak pelvic floor conditions can’t actually carry out.

What Does the BTL Emsella Do?

The High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology used by the BTL Emsella is a revolutionary treatment that targets the pelvic floor muscles using electromagnetic currents to stimulate muscular contractions and lift the pelvic floor muscles. We know this all sounds complex and uncomfortable, but it is actually a completely painless treatment that can be done in as little as half an hour!

The treatment is based on creating targeted and deep stimulation of the pelvic floor muscles to what is called a ‘supramaximal’ level. This means that they contract and tense past their natural maximum, meaning your pelvic floor gets an amazing workout in comparison to normal kegel exercises which are commonly prescribed. This is made possible as the technology targets the muscles without telling the brain to move them, so the contractions are completely physical. It also helps retrain muscles to stop any little accidents from happening in the future too.

BTL Emsella treatment not only strengthens pelvic floor muscles in the same way tensing muscles in the arms or legs would strengthen them, but also actually stimulates the growth of new protein strands and muscle fibres. This helps to ensure that after treatment not only are the muscles stronger, they are also more responsive, so that you can control your bladder with much more security and comfort.

BTL Emsella is an FDA approved, non-surgical, completely unintrusive procedure designed to combat the cause and the symptoms of postmenopausal incontinence. A BTL Emsella treatment only takes around half an hour per session, and you can feel the results straight away after treatment. A course of TEN sessions over  FOUR weeks is needed to make sure you get the best results. The treatment has zero recovery time, is comfortable and relaxing, and – unlike many other vaginal tightening treatments – can be carried out fully clothed.

Post Natal Incontinence

The Effects of Childbirth on the Body.

The effects that pregnancy and childbirth can have on the body are varied and can have a huge impact on your life, both while you’re pregnant and after you’ve given birth. These changes range from weight gain and changes to your body shape, to psychological differences and changes in the thyroid, skin and hair. For example, different areas of the brain actually grow and shrink during pregnancy and childbirth, and many women find they have skin breakouts after giving birth because of the dramatic changes in hormone levels! Pregnancy and childbirth affect everyone differently, but the vast majority of women will experience incontinence or urinary leakage to some degree during pregnancy or after childbirth.

During pregnancy, the weight of the baby pressing on the bladder can actually disrupt the way your bladder and pelvic floor muscles (which are the muscles responsible for holding and controlling the uterus and urethra) usually work, leading to symptoms of stress incontinence. Vaginal birth can also affect the pelvic floor muscles, due to the strain it puts on the pelvic floor. Vaginal birth can weaken these muscles, making difficulty holding your bladder or some level of leakage much more likely. You’re not alone though, as an estimated half of women experience changes in continence after childbirth.

Pregnancy and childbirth can also cause damage to the nerves controlling the bladder or displacement of the bladder and urethra, and having an episiotomy during labour can also contribute to incontinence and leakage among postnatal women.

What is Postnatal Stress Incontinence?

Postnatal stress incontinence is very common, and is caused by the stress put on the pelvic floor during childbirth. While normally, the pelvic floor muscles wrap tightly around the urethra , and only relax when we consciously decide to, after childbirth, they (understandably!) become stretched and looser. This means that when stress or pressure is put on the bladder, for example, when you sneeze, cough, laugh or lift heavy objects, there isn’t a barrier to prevent any little accidents.

For most women with normal births, there is a certain degree of leakage that is expected, but normal continence should be regained after a few months. Factors increasing the likelihood of women developing severe postnatal stress incontinence, include having several babies vaginally, a long or problematic birth, obesity, smoking, the birth of heavier babies and giving birth over the age of 35.

Pelvic floor exercises such as Kegels are often recommended to women suffering from stress incontinence or difficulty regaining control of their bladder after having a baby, but they can be time consuming and the process of strengthening the pelvic floor with these exercises is long. We also find that many of our patients cannot feel their pelvic floor muscles in order to contract them so cannot carry out kegel exercises at all.

How Does BTL Emsella Treat Postnatal Incontinence?

BTL Emsella is a revolutionary new treatment designed to quickly, easily and painlessly eradicate little accidents and the symptoms of postnatal incontinence. It targets the pelvic floor muscles with High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology, stimulating the muscles to tighten the pelvic floor and give you back control of your bladder.

During the BTL Emsella treatment, electromagnetic currents help to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles past a level that can be consciously achieved through Kegel or other pelvic floor exercises. Because the treatment stimulates the muscles directly, the contractions achieved are stronger, and your pelvic floor muscles get much more of a workout! During treatment, the muscles contract to a supramaximal level – the equivalent of over 11,000 Kegel exercises in one treatment – making it far more effective than many other methods to help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

With traditional Kegel exercises, the muscles are tensed and released to help strengthen them. With BTL Emsella, not only is there this tension and release of the pelvic floor muscles, but the structure of the muscles also changes! The treatment stimulates the growth of new protein strands and muscle fibres as well, which not only improves the physical action of the muscles, but also assists in regaining neuromuscular control of the pelvic floor, giving you more control over your muscles and helping to stop any leaks or dribbles!

The BTL Emsella is FDA approved, and offers a non-surgical, un-intrusive and relaxing alternative to many other incontinence treatments. BTL Emsella requires no recovery or downtime, and can be carried out without you having to get undressed! The treatments take just under half an hour per session, and consist of ten sessions over four weeks to see the best results. However, some results can be felt after the first or second treatment.

Who Is Suitable

Are you the right
candidate for BTL EMSELLA?

BTL EMSELLA is a great option for women and men of any age who desire a non-invasive solution for urinary/stress incontinence, sexual rejuvenation, erectile dysfunction and improvement in their quality of life. Due to factors such as the body’s normal aging, childbirth, menopause or prostate surgery/surgery, the pelvic floor muscles decondition and insufficiently support the pelvic organs. These factors directly correlate with urinary incontinence.

According to NAFC*, over 200 million people worldwide are affected by incontinence. Are you one of them? Take this quick test!

1 – Do you leak urine when you cough, sneeze or engage in sports activities?

2 – Do you need to go to the bathroom often?

3 – Have you refrained from intimate life in the last months out of fear of insecurity?

If you answered “yes”, you are probably suffering from urinary incontinence. BTL EMSELLA is the first device of its kind and is FDA-cleared for treating urinary incontinence in women and men along with erectile dysfunction and post-prostate incontinence.

HOW DOES BTL EMSELLA WORK?

BTL EMSELLA uses electromagnetic energy to cause deep pelvic floor muscle stimulation without getting undressed! A single BTL EMSELLA session brings thousands of Kegel-like contractions which help you train your muscles without any effort. Scientific research shows that 95% of treated patient have reported significant improvement in their quality of life.**

UNFORTUNATELY, SOME PEOPLE ARE

POST-NATAL INCONTINENCE

Postnatal stress incontinence is an incredibly common condition, even among women with normal births and no particular complications. This isn’t really surprising when you consider the strain that vaginal childbirth puts on the pelvic floor muscles. When the pelvic floor muscles are working normally, they wrap tightly around the bladder and urethra to help hold the bladder tightly closed, and only relax when you consciously make the effort to. However, when these muscles are strained, weakened or damaged, such as during childbirth, they can’t hold the bladder as effectively. This results in the symptoms of stress incontinence after childbirth, including embarrassing leaks and dribbles when strain is put on the pelvic floor muscles or muscles in the abdomen. Common causes of this kind of strain include sneezing, laughing, coughing, high impact exercise, lifting heavy objects, to name just a few!

During pregnancy, the way the baby sits on the bladder can disrupt and strain the pelvic floor muscles, while vaginal birth can cause damage to the muscles due to the considerable pressure put on the area.

Post-natal incontinence affects many women after childbirth, but the muscles can usually repair themselves within a few months and symptoms will gradually disappear. Severe post-natal incontinence that doesn’t go away, however, is considered chronic (meaning it won’t go away without treatment), which is where Estrada Clinic and the BTL Emsella come in! Chronic post-natal stress incontinence is made more likely by smoking, having multiple vaginal births, having a long or problematic birth, being overweight, giving birth to heavier babies or giving birth over the age of 35.

BTL Emsella can help to improve the symptoms of stress incontinence by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, and giving them increased overall muscle tone and strength.

INCONTINENCE AFTER MENOPAUSE

Almost all women will experience symptoms of menopause at some time in their lives. The menopause affects almost all of the body’s systems, including your skin and hair, metabolism, the brain, digestive system, and genitourinary system (which is the system that contains the vagina and reproductive organs, as well as the urinary system and bladder). We also see a major drop in oestrogen levels in the body, which triggers a drop in collagen levels.

Collagen and elastin are the proteins in the body that give your skin and muscles strength and elasticity, which is vital to maintaining regular muscle tone. The decline in these proteins as women reach the menopause results in an overall loss in muscle tone, including the muscles in the pelvic floor. It can also trigger a variety of intimate conditions, including vaginal dryness and laxity, making intimate relationships complex and often knocking your confidence. Over 200 million people worldwide are affected by some form of incontinence, including incontinence after menopause. BTL Emsella can effectively treat symptoms of stress incontinence and rejuvenate the muscles in the area, by using electromagnetic technology to target the pelvic floor muscles. This technology causes the pelvic floor muscles to contract and relax, working them out in the same way you would any other muscle in the body.

This results in an overall strengthened pelvic floor and the improvement of muscle tone and symptoms of stress incontinence. This helps to prevent dribbles, leakages and embarrassing accidents at inopportune times, saving you from any concerns and worries, wherever you are.

BTL Emsella is such an effective treatment and so well-loved by our patients. It is one of the only FDA approved devices of its type and is completely non-surgical, un-intrusive, and you don’t even have to get undressed. A BTL Emsella treatment only takes less than half an hour per session, and results can begin to be felts as soon as straight away after treatment, though most patients start to feel results after a week or two.

VAGINAL REJUVENATION

A common symptom of menopause is vaginal laxity, or looseness. This can make intimate relationships difficult, and decrease sensation during sex for both men and women. This can make it difficult to express yourself intimately and actually make sex less pleasurable for both partners. Vaginal laxity can also make it difficult for many female sufferers to become aroused or reach orgasm. Incidents of vaginal laxity also increase the likelihood of vaginal dryness, which can lead to pain and discomfort during sex, making it even more difficult to maintain a fulfilling sex life.

Many treatments that have traditionally been available to women to tighten the vaginal canal have been deeply invasive and surgical, such as vaginoplasty. These can be incredibly invasive, and carry the risk of infection, require anaesthetic and a stay in a hospital overnight. Fortunately, the new wave of non-surgical vaginal tightening treatments for women struggling with vaginal laxity is here, including BTL Emsella, available at Estrada Clinic. These treatments give our patients the opportunity to take back their sex lives and feel like their most confident selves without the need for surgical intervention.

IMPROVING ORGASMS

As vaginal laxity is treated, sexual sensation for many women is improved. For many years, there weren’t any treatments available to help treat these conditions, even though they affect up to 25% of menopausal and post-menopausal women. By using HIFEM technology, BTL Emsella can treat vaginal laxity and give women and men their sexual satisfaction back. The HIFEM currents target the pelvic floor muscles and improve the overall health and strength of these tissues, as well as the tissues in the vagina, vaginal canal and increased blood circulation in men’s sexual anatomy. This way, the treatment can help improve sexual function for people and their partners, by tightening the vaginal canal, and give our patients back their confidence, both in intimate relationships and in other parts of their life.

What Is Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction, also commonly known as impotence, is the inability to achieve and maintain an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse.

Struggling to get an erection from time to time isn’t necessarily a cause for concern, however, if your erectile dysfunction is persistent and ongoing it’s often a major cause of stress affecting both your self-confidence and the relationship with your significant other.

Problems getting or keeping an erection can also be a sign of an underlying health condition that needs treatment and a risk factor for heart disease.

Erectile dysfunction symptoms might include persistent:

  • Trouble getting an erection
  • Trouble keeping an erection
  • Reduced sexual desire

Underlying Causes of Erectile Dysfunction

Although symptoms of impotence can begin to show at any point throughout a man’s life, in most cases, erectile dysfunction is caused by something physical arising in later life as our lifestyle choices and general health begins to catch up with us.

Common causes include:

  • Medical conditions, particularly diabetes or heart conditions
  • Tobacco use, which restricts blood flow to veins and arteries, can – over time – cause chronic health conditions that lead to erectile dysfunction
  • Being overweight, especially if you’re obese
  • Certain medical treatments, such as prostate surgery or radiation treatment for cancer
  • Injuries, particularly if they damage the nerves or arteries that control erections
  • Medications, including antidepressants, antihistamines and medications to treat high blood pressure, pain or prostate conditions
  • Psychological conditions, such as stress, anxiety or depression
  • Drug and alcohol use, especially if you’re a long-term or heavy drinker

Erectile Dysfunction can also be a result of an underlying condition such as a weak pelvic floor or nerve damage. If you’ve had a prostatectomy (a surgical procedure for the partial or complete removal of the prostate), you may begin to experience erectile dysfunction due to trauma to the muscles and nerves around the prostate and pelvic floor.

These muscles and nerves can be injured or weakened in several ways including:

  • Surgery to remove cancer in the anus or rectum
  • Remove haemorrhoids
  • Treat anal abscesses and fistulas
  • Hypertrophy of the pelvic muscles
  • A long-term habit of straining to pass stool
  • Brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury

How Does BTL Emsella Treat Faecal Incontinence?

By targeting the pelvic floor muscles with High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology, BTL Esmella stimulates the muscles, tightens the pelvic floor and allows you to regain control to achieve and maintain an erection.

During the BTL Emsella treatment, electromagnetic currents directly stimulate the pelvic floor muscles beyond the level that can be consciously achieved through Kegel or other pelvic floor exercises, drastically cutting down the time between your first visit to a GP and recommendation for medical treatment if necessary.

This achieves far stronger contractions, giving your pelvic floor muscles a far better workout; the equivalent of over 11,000 Kegel exercises in one treatment.

BTL Emsella treatment also changes the structure of the muscles by stimulating the growth of new protein strands and muscle fibres to improve the physical action of the muscles overall!

Here’s why you should choose BTL Emsella;

  • FDA approved
  • Non-surgical
  • Non-intrusive
  • No recovery or downtime
  • Can be carried out without you having to get undressed
  • The treatments take just under half an hour per session
  • Results can be felt after the first treatment

If you are struggling with urinary incontinence, difficulty controlling your bowels or erectile dysfunction, BTL Emsella may be the right treatment for you.
